Whenever you need to move your grandfather/longcase clock it is imperative that you first remove the pendulum and weights. To not do so risks damaging the clock. The weights are a simple affair but the pendulum might seem a little more daunting with it's proximity to the movement.
Luckily, removing the pendulum is a quick and easy job that can be completed in mere moments. Depending on the size of your clock you may feel more comfortable carrying out the task with the help of a step ladder (but please be careful!) or a set of helping hands.
The below video gives a clear side view of the process of removing the pendulum or, if followed in reverse, how to put the pendulum back in place.
